Information
Fort Myer CYS Child & Youth Services is proud to introduce
a brand new program - SKIES Unlimited Classes.
This innovative initiative is contract classes which
will create exceptional and diverse educational opportunities
for children and youth at Fort Myer.
The
name SKIES Unlimited depicts the
benefits youth will gain from participating in instructional
programs, i.e.. Schools of Knowledge,
Inspiration, Exploration
and Skills. Instructional programs
within Child & Youth Service (CYS) are strategically designed
to support growth in every aspect of the lives of Army Youth
ages 2-18 years. These programs may range from the musical
(e.g. voice or piano), the athletic (e.g. gymnastics, ice
skating, etc), to the creative (e.g. theater, photography
or writing). These programs encompass four service
areas: Arts, Recreation & Leisure, Life Skills;
Citizenship & Leadership; Sports,
Fitness & Health; and Academic Skills, Mentoring &
Intervention. Some programs may be provided to offer
long-term opportunities over a number of years while others
are short-term, reflecting community interest. Regardless
of the time span, these programs present an opportunity to
building individual knowledge and leadership skills, practice
social skills and experiment with various activities and programs.
